I cannot yet Imagine someone who dropped everything and came from Iowa to Texas to help you and drive you so far to California and then left again so you could write. So selfless and kind. I am sitting here on a slow rainy day during my lunch hour reading your blog and feeling a tad weird as it is a bit familiar.

I bought your book after reading your story in one of those Guide Post magazines that I once stumbled upon. I too have had an upheaval of a life since my wife decided she no longer wanted to be married. Divorce papers were served to me on our 27th wedding anniversary. It was not a mutual breakup as I tried my best to hang on but she didn't. So...5 years later after moving from town to town trying to make sense out of everything and everyone, I ended up in a sleepy little town about 70 miles east of LA. Your story of your dog Daisy hit me harder than I thought it would. I have never really been a dog guy but less than a year ago last December, I had to put down my little Shiatsu Kaycie girl. Actually she was my then girlfriends dog but Kaycie adopted me a couple years ago. I was told that I was the Alpha dog.

Kaycie had an apparent stroke and the vet saying there was not much that can be done for her, we did not want her to be in any pain. But the pain that I went through holding her while the vet administered the drug...and she just fell asleep in my arms...that was horrendous.

Thank you for your blog and you book. I do hope you find everything you have been looking for very soon. I empathize 100% with your emotions and wandering mind as I have had to learn to enjoy LIFE again after the death of my brother in law, my father, my mother and then my older brother, all within 2 years. It was a growing snowball at full speed.
You are doing all you can and should. The Lord will watch over you and walk with you. He wanted Daisy to be at his side and enjoy his love. I'll continue to follow your posts and smile for you knowing you are doing the right things and in the right town with the right people.
lots of love,
RogerAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13397744925041954937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8725035943025805254.post-41730139298269620032014-12-02T15:25:47.565-06:002014-12-02T15:25:47.565-06:00I'm happy that you were able to love Daisy so ...I'm happy that you were able to love Daisy so much. My Mom,91 and 11 months, never used the computer we gave her for much of anything. My sister & I tried to teach her about emails but alas, she really wasn't interested. She has been using her computer for games. She had a group of friends that met in their homes once a week, for about 3o+ yrs. toplay dominions. I called it "killer dominions" as they were fast and furious games. Mom has the spiral bound notebooks with scores records faithfully. She had been in a quilting group but she was the cook as she couldn't see to quilt. She's been legally blind for years, maybe 60-70.The quilting group met Tuesdays, ate lunch together for 35 years. She just spent a year in a nursing home and missed her computer games. Other people in said nursing home played games when they could. Mostly Bingo. (A game Mom did not really like). She's home again and back to her comforting games. Mom's been alone for since July,1954 when my Dad died. She's very alert, has long lasting friendships, listens to me whine on the phone twice a day and gets to go to her beloved church again. I really don't know why I'm telling you this. I think you have a spirit that is healing and Mom's spirit has been healing since 1954. The dominios group was full of women who lost their husbands and needed help coping. Everyone in the group always helped each other. Some women had to be taught how to use a checkbook (their husbands always did that). Some learned to drive and got encouragement from the Dominios group. Really, a book could be written on Mom's love and coping skills. She excelled at that. Maybe this is TMI for you. Sorry it's long. Hope you find a bit of peace on the beach.Hotquiltshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11060045533002943732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8725035943025805254.post-60109984785124196302014-12-02T15:22:22.212-06:002014-12-02T15:22:22.212-06:00I'm happy that you were able to love Daisy so ...I'm happy that you were able to love Daisy so much. My husband teases me about "feeding my cows". But it pushes away the real world. Your books are the first books I was able to read in a year. I appreciate that you've allowed "us" to walk your journey of recovery with you. It's a long process. It helps to know we aren't on the road alone. wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00488060040792821440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8725035943025805254.post-90511279450202016452014-11-30T21:37:44.458-06:002014-11-30T21:37:44.458-06:00Sometimes, you've just got to unfocus.
